Marshall County Chambers Hosts 2025 Legislative Update
“The Legislative Update is a truly collaborative event, planned by all four chambers of Marshall County,” said Laura Upton, president of the Arab Chamber of Commerce. “We genuinely enjoy working together to keep our members informed about the legislative efforts in Montgomery.”
She said the Chambers are very fortunate for the support of Sen. Wes Kitchens (R-District 9), Rep. Brock Colvin (R-District 26) and Rep. Jeana Ross (R-District 27).
“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our legislative delegation,” Upton said. “Their commitment to advancing policies that strengthen our business community is invaluable. Having strong advocates at the state level ensures that Marshall County remains competitive, attracts investment and supports job creation.”
Morri Yancy, president of the Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce, welcomed 275 guests followed by an invocation from Jason Kirkland, general manager at the Guntersville Electric Board. Guntersville Mayor Leigh Dollar led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Kitchens, Colvin and Ross spent the morning informing the community on legislative bills and initiatives that passed in the last year. Highlighted topics included immigration bills, secure voting, educational budgeting and extended maternity leave for educators.
“We had a theme as the Senate caucus, and that was protecting Alabama families and promoting Alabama businesses,” Kitchens said.
The event served as an opportunity for community members to stay informed and engaged as legislators continue working to shape Marshall County and Alabama’s future.
