DESCRIPTION:Becoming Bartram: Guided Hike & Field Journaling – Lake Guntersville State Park \nDATE: Saturday\, January 10 \nTIME: 1:00 PM \nLOCATION: Lake Guntersville State Park\, Campground Store \nDETAILS: Step into the footsteps of early naturalist William Bartram as we explore the forests and ridges of Lake Guntersville State Park. Along this 1.5-mile hike over moderate terrain\, we’ll pause to observe the plants\, animals\, and landscapes that make this ecosystem unique — and reflect on how Bartram himself might have recorded them in his journals more than 250 years ago. \nParticipants will be encouraged to keep their own field notes\, sketches\, or observations during the hike\, “becoming Bartram” for the day as we connect with the natural world through close observation and curiosity. Together\, we’ll discuss how Alabama’s wild beauty has changed since Bartram’s time and what we can do to protect it for the next 250 years. \nWe will be meeting outside the Campground Store and hiking Daniel’s\, Shannon\, and Old Lickskillet trails. Attendees are encouraged to bring water\, bug spray\, sturdy footwear\, and a small notebook or journal if you’d like to write or sketch during the hike.
