SUMMARY:Snead Art Students & Instructor Lanette Blankenship Exhibit\, at Mountain Valley Arts Council
DESCRIPTION:Mountain Valley Arts Council will open its exhibit featuring art instructor Lanette Blankenship and Drawing II and Painting I art students from Snead State Community College on February 28th.  The exhibit will remain up through March 31st. \n The artists’ reception will be Tuesday March 14th from 5:30 – 7 PM at the MVAC Gallery at 440 Gunter Avenue in Guntersville. The exhibit will feature art from the students’ current studies of Byzantine art and and religious artwork during the Middle Age and their current interpretation of that era. The students will also show their other artwork created this semester in Drawing 2 and Painting 1. \nMVAC Gallery is open Tuesday – Friday 10am – 5pm and Saturday 10am – 2pm. Located at 440 Gunter Avenue.

SUMMARY:2023 Wild Irish Run 5K & 10K
DESCRIPTION:The Wild Irish Run 5K/10K held on March 11\, 2023\, will mark its 45th anniversary. In 1979\, The Wild Irish Run was called the Lake Guntersville 10\,000 hosted by the Lake Guntersville Track Club. This course became sanctioned in 1980 by the Road Runners Club of America and added .2 miles to be an official 10K course. In 1984\, this race was held on Saint Patrick’s Day and subtitled the “1984 Saint Patrick’s Wild Irish Run”. And the “Wild Irish Run” name stuck. \nThis race has earned the reputation of being one of the oldest 10K races in Alabama and has been chosen as an Alabama Top Ten Event in past years. This all-paved fast course with small rolling hills takes you through downtown Guntersville and a scenic tour along beautiful Lake Guntersville (certified course # AL12015JD) \nWithin the last 10 years\, due to the popularity to the shorter runs\, we implemented and had certified a 5K course into our Wild Irish Run event. Our 5K race is an all-paved surface that takes you through a scenic trail along Lake Guntersville (certified course # AL19009JE) \nThe Wild Irish Run 5K/10K is now hosted by the City of Guntersville Recreation Department and is held on the Saturday of or before the holiday. \nEvent details and schedule\nThe 45th Wild Irish Run will be held on Saturday\, March 11\, 2023 \nPacket pick-up will be held on Friday\, March 10\, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and again Saturday\, March 11 from 5:00 a.m. – 6:30 a.m. \n10K Race will begin at 7:00 .am. SUMMARY:EAA Pancake Breakfast\, at Guntersville Airport
DESCRIPTION:March 11\, 2023 is the Experimental Aircraft Association Pancake Breakfast at the airport. Marshall County PALS will be cooking and serving (volunteers are needed). This is a time to acquaint people with the mission of MCPALS as well as a fundraiser. \nVolunteers need to be at the airport at 6:30 AM\, and breakfast will be served from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. If you can’t volunteer to help\, please come out and eat. Breakfast is $7.00 per person.
